Holi

Holi, or the Festival of Colors is a Hindu celebration marking the beginning of spring. The festivities happen on the day after the full moon, in early March. On this day, people celebrate by squirting dyed water or tossing colored powder on each other.

Bdelloid Rotifers

“Bdelloid Rotifers — small transparent animals that live in damp places such as puddles, or patches of moss. Among evolutionists, these animals have something of a cult following, because they have a lifestyle that is not supposed to exist. As far as anyone can tell, the bdelloid rotifers are ancient asexuals: they appear to have been living entirely without sex for more than 85 million years. And each time we learn more details of their lifestyle, the wackier it becomes.”

List of Unusual Deaths

This is unendingly interesting: A List of Unusual Deaths

1862: Jim Creighton, baseball player, died when he swung a bat too hard and ruptured his bladder.

458 BC: Aeschylusa Greek playwright, was killed when an eagle dropped a live tortoise on him, mistaking his bald head for a stone. The tortoise survived.

1998: Every player on the visiting soccer team at a game in the Democratic Republic of the Congo was struck by a fork bolt of lightning, killing them all instantly, presumably because of the metal studs in their shoes.

DoE Swag

It’s no secret that Department of Eagles is one of our favorite bands (see our very first post). Now they have their own t-shirt. I’m not too keen on the design, but good for them none the less.

You can get these things at Insound.

Also, we are eagerly anticipating the release of their second album come October.
